External carotid artery pseudoaneurysm in an immunocompromised patient.

چکیده
arteries are rare and are generally atherosclerotic in nature. In adults, infected or mycotic aneurysms are unusual and are most often due to systemic sepsis and bacteremia. The commonest infecting organisms are Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Klebsiella, Escherichia and Salmonella. In children, tonsillitis and pharyngeal abscesses are more common and can cause vascular complications including thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein (Lemierre’s syndrome) and extracranial carotid pseudoaneurysms. We report a soft tissue infection of the neck in an immunocompromised adult secondary to a rare complication of dermatitis herpetiformis treated with diamino-diphenyl sulphone (dapsone).

Dispersion of coils after parent-artery occlusion of radiation-induced internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm.
We report a rare complication following parent-artery occlusion in a patient with radiation-induced carotid pseudoaneurysms. Both the right internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm and the recurrent external carotid artery pseudoaneurysm were treated by parent-artery occlusion with coils. Although rebleeding was not observed after the second embolization, angiography and endoscopy at the 12-month...
متن کاملExternal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm with arteriovenous fistula: A rare complication of glass shrapnel injury
Posttraumatic external carotid artery pseudoaneurysm with arteriovenous fistula is a rare condition. An 8-year-old child presented with painful pulsatile swelling in the preauricular region following a penetrating glass shrapnel injury. Detailed evaluation showed distal external carotid artery pseudoaneurysm with fistula, which was draining into the retromandibular vein. Endovascular treatment ...
متن کاملPseudoaneurysm of the lingual artery after concurrent intra-arterial chemotherapy with radiotherapy for advanced tongue cancer.
BACKGROUND Aneurysms of the external carotid artery and its branches are rare. METHODS We present an extremely rare case of pseudoaneurysm of the lingual artery secondary to concurrent intra-arterial chemotherapy via the superficial temporal artery for advanced tongue cancer. RESULTS The patient developed sudden and significant oral bleeding from the left tongue base 10 weeks after the comp...
متن کاملPseudoaneurysm of the external carotid artery branch following radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Rupture of irradiated arteries in patients with head and neck cancer is an uncommon complication. We present the first case of a pseudoaneurysm of the external carotid artery branch that developed after irradiation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and was successfully treated by microcoil embolization therapy. Clinicians should be aware of this unusual complication to avoid a potentially erroneous m...
متن کاملNon-Tuberculous Mycobacterium Induced Pseudoaneurysm of the Common Carotid Artery
An 81-year-old male patient presented with complaint of a pulsating neck mass. The patient had a previous history of cervical lymphadenopathy by non-tuberculous mycobacterium infection. Rapid growth of the mass on admission and contrast enhanced computed tomography of the neck resulted in a diagnosis of non-tuberculous mycobacterium induced pseudoaneurysm. The patient underwent emergency open r...
